Jeannie here- We love chocolate and have been thrilled to learn that it is a healthy food as long as chemicals haven’t been added, and remember, any ingredient that has been changed from it’s original source is considered a chemical- strange, but true. That means your chocolate should be sweetened with cane juice, stevia, honey– anything that is natural in nature, not processed sugars which includes all sugar alcohols.

    I recently ate dark chocolate given to me over the holidays, sweetened with erithritol and stevia. I had a powerful mood swing in the wrong direction. I did not have the same bad reaction when I ate carob. Every body is not alike. Watch your body’s reaction. I’m sticking with carob.

      True- every body is not alike and we all need to listen to ours. Your body reacted badly, not because of the good healthy chocolate, but because of the erythritol in it, which is a sugar alcohol (man-made chemical), not something from a healthy plant in our garden. Some people can tolerate sugar alcohols, but others get a bad reaction from them and need to avoid foods containing them, which many diet and so called ‘healthy’ foods do. TO YOUR GOOD HEALTH, Michelle!
