About Me

  Talk ‘N Share

Jean Marie James

As a child I grew up in a sick family– mostly on my Mother’s side. If it was a disease, we had it- heart problems, high blood pressure, diabetes, cancer, arthritis, allergies, and being very much overweight. I doubt there was anything my family line didn’t have somewhere.  My Mother was 5’4″, in the 300 pound range and deaf, needing hearing aids. She had a very bad heart requiring a powerful drug called digitalis and also had diabetes. My Father’s weight was normal but he had a lot of allergies. They both had to have many tests and medicines. I grew to hate it and wondered what I might end up with since in High School I was already a bit overweight.

I left home at 18, went to a doctor, asked for a diet to lose weight and thus began my lifelong passion and study of achieving good health if such a thing were even possible.

Over the years I have read articles, talked to health care providers and even joined T.O.P.S., a great group that unfortunately didn’t have all the information they needed and sometimes steered us wrong, thinking they were right and I was right there with them. Nevertheless I was determined to find answers that worked for everyone, so when that group dissolved, I created Talk ‘N Share, thinking I could head up a small group of like-minded people. Life happened and I didn’t follow through until recently, when I began this blog hoping to help my family and anyone else with an interest in having good health and who like myself, may find it nearly impossible to lose those last few pounds and maintain the loss already achieved.

I’m very pleased to say that I’ve not had a disease unless you count flu and colds, which I no longer get since taking live vitamins, and I’ve now learned how to not gain weight simply by including a lot of protein and healthy fats in my diet, so no more yo-yo dieting! I know that all I’ve learned will help everyone no matter their preferences in foods or what allergies they may have. The secret?  EAT CHEMICAL-FREE as much as possible! Your body will thank you for it.

Since we have some of the same family genes I can relate. My biggest health issues are somewhat different and more than likely come from dad. I have always eaten health. Raised my own food, canned dried and froze foods. That was mainly because of my children’s health issues.
In resent years have have found a wonderful study that among other things will show you if you have high colestrol due to diet or inherited issue. This has taken the guess work out of what I need to do to stay healthy. The test I’m referring to is the Boston Heart study.
Keep up the good work and we are what we eat! Don’t forget to exercise!
