Yummy & Healthy Smoothies!

FD 3 drinksmooth3Smoothies have become popular for a number of reasons and if you find yourself skipping breakfast– just having coffee until you take a break, we have great news! We are busy collecting some yummy, and yes, healthy recipes for our version of the popular BULLETPROOF COFFEE! A great start to your busy day! For those of you who may be doing the One Day Diet, everything on this site is allowed on it and we believe this coffee is the best way to start that day!

FD 3 Bullet-Proof-CoffeeThe recipe above is just one 8 oz cup, but many people want at least 12-16 oz, so let’s start with this….……..

2 cups of Perfect Bulletproof Coffee!

Ingredients:

  • 2 Tbsp unsalted grass-fed butter (like Kerrygold)
  • 1-2 Tbsp of coconut oil
  • 2 cups hot freshly brewed organic coffee
  • add-in spices of choice (cinnamon or gingerbread spice?), flavors of choice (vanilla? cacao? Dark Chocolate?) or just a sweetener of choice like SweetLeaf or MONK Fruit.
  • To make this into a smoothie that will satisfy hunger for hours, add a couple scoops of whey protein powder, and if possible, use grass-fed whey protein powder. These are all optional since as long as your coffee has butter and coconut oil in it, you have a yummy, natural Bulletproof coffee or smoothie!

Instructions:

  • Brew coffee. This can be espresso, drip, french press, etc., and if you like, preheat your blender while coffee is brewing by pouring hot water into it- then empty it when your coffee is ready.
  • Blend and froth- add coffee, butter and coconut oil into the blender.
  • If you like, add any extras of choice: (cinnamon, vanilla, cacao, stevia, protein powder).
  • Blend until there is a thick layer of foam on top like a latte. Yes, you can also use a hand-held blender – they’re inexpensive and work great. ENJOY!

Some really healthy and yummy smoothies can be made quick & easy by using a whey protein powder (we suggest a grass-fed whey) as a base and adding things you like, using Almond milk, Coconut water, Coconut milk, or other liquid– so many variations! We love the vanilla and chocolate protein powders some companies provide, but do read the ingredients because we’ve discovered some companies add unhealthy, artificial chemicals to their powders!

We have recently discovered two new shake mix and meal replacement powders that are both healthy and yummy! Rockin’ Wellness is a great site that offers both chocolate and vanilla shakes containing a number of healthy ingredients. Lean Science meal replacement from Purity also offers both chocolate and vanilla powders and we are using this one because it contains grass-fed whey protein and coconut oil- two things my doctor said I should add to my daily diet. How great is that! MMMMMM… these things are good, healthy and absolutely the best for whatever you’re looking to accomplish by having a smoothie!
